Hello,

My name is Derek and I am your online editor for the 2006-2007 school year. The online paper has undergone major changes and is now back with a newer, and more sexy look, if I do say so myself. I hope that you enjoy the new look and feel free to contact me with any suggestions or questions you may have about the new look, or just the online edition itself.

Football Season Off and Running-How Does Logan's Team Look?
Erika E: Staff Writer

“Anyone can win a game on any given night.”
That's what Coach Favero said the Logan High Football Team learned from the nail-biting game against Park City, August 25. After a dramatic Grizzly comeback in the second half, pushing the game into overtime, Logan lost when Park City scored a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion, making the outcome 35-36.
However, many will remember the victory against 5A's Hunter High, August 18. Hunter featured a set of twins, Tiki and Buddha with a combined weight of 825 pounds, who played offensive line, left and right tackle. Logan's defensive line really pulled it together and demonstrated some solid teamwork. The Grizzlies played hard and earned the win, 35-21.
Senior Richard Lee said of the victory, “After a hard-fought battle against 5A powerhouse Hunter, we look to get better every play, every day.”
And that is exactly what the Grizzlies need to do because Lee and senior Matt Hedin agree that their goal for this season is “Repeat.”
Thus far the season has had its challenges however, Logan's starting quarterback, senior Chaz Housley, tore his meniscus in two different places and underwent surgery. He sat out the Sky View game, but has been cleared to play again. During that week, senior Ben Bishop who recently moved here from Japan, played quarterback.
The Grizzlies will be in San Diego Sept 6-10 to play Helix High School, Coach Favero's alma mater. Favero is excited for the game, and said it will be nice to get the experience playing against an out-of-state team. Helix is also the team Lee and Hedin picked to be their toughest competition this year.
Discussing his football philosophy, Coach Favero said that a good football team consists of perseverance, mental toughness, and enthusiasm. Logan hopes this season will bring just that, and make our team successful as we leave our mark in the history of Logan High Football.
Region games begin September 23 with the homecoming game against Grantsville.

Les Mis: A Review
Allie L: Guest Writer

Seats being filled, audience full of suspense, Les Miserables is about to begin. Down in the orchestra pit, practicing their musical instruments. Red-velvet curtain waiting to be lifted up, curtain up!

The production of the show was very well directed. Actors and Actresses paid close attention to their acting and singing. The voices were really clear and well enunciated. The acting style was the best I've ever seen at Ellen Eccles Theater on Monday night 7:00pm. The student performers moved naturally on stage, and seemed to be at home there, both performing and revealing relationships to one another. I also add, that the director had not only a specific concept for the play in his/her mind, but also a personal method for working with the actors, he/she is to be commended.

Also a note of the assistance on the areas of technical noteworthy, the lighting plot for the play was very well for the mood of the actors' performance emotion to catch the audience's still attention. They used a smoke-machine that tis smoke was used for when trouble was there or, when the actor was in a dark-confused moment of time. The shades of lights: red, white, blue, yellow, and green were essential for the acting scene emotion. The technical use was appropriate to the mood of the play.

The use of little comedy to set off the drama of the play was excitingly effective. The actor of “Thenardier-innkeeper” presented the comedy of the play Les Miserables.

The nonverbal communication-taking place on stage was enthralled to the minds of the audience. The actors' silence communication sent a message to those watching them.

An example, the part of when Marius was remembering his friends who fought in battle and them not living with him, “Empty chairs at empty tables.” His friend's, actors standing at the back of the stage in mystified-black covering.

The actors are consistent with the mood and feeling of the words being spoken. They deal honestly with each other and are reaching out and “touching” one another, also have established an interpersonal relationship that can be believed.
